Tips for Spring Garden Maintenance
Once the freezing British winter has finally said farewell, you can look forward to some warmer weather, and this is the right time to carry out essential garden maintenance. Wait until the last frost has disappeared, then you can think about brightening up your outdoor living area, ready for the summer. Here are a few tips to help you get started.
- Tree Pruning – Spring is the perfect time to shape your trees and shrubs, but make sure you don’t cut buds that are blooming, as this will hinder growth. There are affordable landscapers in Harrogatewho can carry out the pruning and they can also give you a heath report on all your trees.
- Nourish the Lawn – You can buy some grass fertiliser from your local garden centre, and apply as per the instructions, which should result in a lush green growth that can be cut a week or two after the fertiliser has been applied.
- Tend the Flower Beds – If there are weeds, remove them, and mulch some compost soil into the top few inches, which will nourish the soil. If you want to plant flowers, now is the time to put in daffodil bulbs and pansies, which will give the garden some colour.
- Trim the Hedgerows – If you have a hedge trimmer, so much the better, otherwise you can do this with a pair of hand shears, which will make a big difference to how the garden looks.
If you don’t have time for gardening, your local landscape service would be happy to visit twice a month and keep your garden looking good.
