If you and your family need more living space and you are thinking about a loft conversion, this is a project that any DIY enthusiast can handle. It differs from a traditional extension, as the structure is already in place, and providing you have the tools and the experience, there’s no reason why you can’t handle such a project.

  1. Design – The best way to design your lost conversion is to enlist the services of one of the architecture firms in Sittingbourne, who would gladly help you create a workable set of plans for a reasonable cost. The architect would know whether or not you will need planning permission, which very much depends on the extent of the conversion, and in the event planning permission is required, the architect can handle this on your behalf.
  2. The Right Tools and Equipment – You will need a long list of hand and power tools, and anything you don’t have can easily be hired from a local plant hire firm. Make a list of all the tools you need that you don’t have and with a Google search, you can find a local hire outfit and order everything you need.
  3. Online Tutorials – The great thing about the Internet is the many online tutorials that cover every aspect of loft conversions, and any aspect you are uncertain about, you can watch a few videos that clearly show you evert stage of the project.

With a little planning and some professional design help, there’s no reason why you can’t complete the project yourself, which will save you a lot of money.
